  • The Position:

    Reporting to the Site Leader, the Facilities Coordinator at Headfirst Summer Camps brings the Headfirst mission to life by maintaining the smooth and efficient operation of the site so that campers can get the most out of their camp experience. Acting as the epicenter of successful camp operations, the Facilities Coordinator must be interested in, and able to, spend each camp day outdoors and on the move as they ensure all camp programs and activities are prepared for campers. The Facilities Coordinator’s duties are physically rigorous, and they must possess a persistent work ethic, strong organizational skills, and a positive attitude.

    The Work:

    Pre-Camp Season

    • Attend leadership training in late spring and/or early summer.
    • Attend and help facilitate Counselor trainings in late May and/or early June.
    • Participate in all required webinars and online trainings.
    • Master and provide input on facilities protocols and policies.
    • Assist with the mobilization of site (including, but not limited to, set up, equipment organization, operational & logistics planning).

    Camp Season

    • Work with the Site Leader to anticipate, identify, and resolve all issues related to camp operations, implementing the Headfirst Summer Camps policies, procedures, and safety protocols in order to ensure a safe and serviceable camp environment.
    • Take personal responsibility for maintaining the safe operation of all camp equipment and supplies.
    • Assist with inventory and organization of camp equipment.
    • Complete the daily set-up and take-down of camp equipment (such as carpool signage, tables, chairs, water play, dunk tank, etc.).
    • Perform routine campus “rounds” to refill water, collect lost & found, and deliver equipment to programs.
    • Assist with moving all supplies and equipment onto site location.
    • Remain constantly “on-call” for any needs that arise during the camp day.
    • Ensure that all equipment is maintained and in working condition.
    • Regularly audit all programs to ensure all necessarily inventory is accounted for and organized, expeditiously addressing any issues as necessary to maintain smooth camp operations.
    • Serve as a role model for campers by consistently demonstrating positive attitudes, respectful communication, and a diligent work ethic.
    • Maintain positive and professional relationships with facilities partners, including school administrators and custodial staff.
    • Communicate respectfully, clearly, and kindly with all members of the Headfirst Summer Camps community, including HQ, camp leadership, fellow team members, campers, and campers' families.
    • Work in all weather conditions.
    • Participate in and help facilitate all required in-season trainings, webinars, and team meetings.
    • Meet Headfirst Summer Camps dress code and appearance requirements.
    • Exhibit the characteristics of a team player and leader as new tasks, projects, and responsibilities arise.
    • Attend all special events as assigned, facilitating activities, interacting with families and assisting with set up/clean up.
    • Report any issue, question, or concern regarding the campers promptly to the Site Leader; notify appropriate on-site and/or HQ leadership immediately of any evidence of substance abuse, child abuse, child neglect, severe medical conditions, individuals appearing to be under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances around campers, or any other potentially dangerous conditions or situation.
    • Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior in working with campers, campers’ families, leadership and other team members, and facility partners, while upholding the Headfirst Summer Camps core values at all times.
    • Adhere to state law, Headfirst Summer Camps policies and procedures, and contractual obligations.
    • Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by the Headfirst Summer Camps Site Leader or HQ staff and not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation.

    The Requirements:

    • 18 years of age or older.
    • Driver’s license.
    • High school graduate – or equivalent educational experience.
    • CPR/First Aid certification, or ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification before May 31, 2018.
    • Demonstrated technical and mechanical experience.
    • Desire and ability to perform physically-rigorous tasks, and to spend the majority of the summer working outdoors.
    • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully at all times and in all situations.
    • Ability to work well with a variety of age, interest, skill, and developmental levels.
    • Ability to exercise good judgement, follow instructions, and properly implement Headfirst processes and policies in order to ensure the safety and emotional well-being of campers and team members.
    • Ability to approach each day and its unique challenges with enthusiasm, patience, and a sense of humor.
    • Ability to successfully complete a background check subject to applicable law.
