• Extended Day Program Leader, Headfirst Summer Camps: 2019-1949

    Program Leaders - Seasonal

  • The Position:

The Extended Day Program Leader for Headfirst Summer Camps will work on-site at our Oakton, Virginia location and will oversee the daily operation and execution of our afternoon extended day programming. As the primary point of contact after the regular camp day ends, the Extended Day Program Leader is not only an enthusiastic instructor, but also a polished ambassador who is comfortable communicating with camper families as needed. The curriculum for Extended Day spans a wide variety of ages and interest areas, allowing campers to explore beyond the structure of their daily camp program, and the program leader is responsible for bringing this curriculum to life. This role requires an experienced educator who passionately engages campers through curriculum-based activities while maintaining high levels of professionalism and organization.

    The Work:

    • Care for all Campers. You actively engage campers of all ages throughout our wide variety of programming. By maintaining enthusiasm and focus during busy afternoons, you will build connections with every camper, creating an environment that both challenges and supports them.
    • Communicate Professionally. Our parents and camper families are unique, and we know that it takes a certain level of care and attention to detail to allow each camper to achieve their personal best. You will communicate both camper achievements and challenges to parents as needed with poise and care.
    • End the Day Strong. At the end of an eventful camp day, you maximize the engagement and enjoyment of every camper that joins Extended Day programming. Whether it is through STEM activities or quiet story time, you use our Extended Day curriculum to finish the camp day as strong as it started.
    • Support your Team. You will work directly with your group of Extended Day counselors, providing feedback and direction as well as mitigating any issues that arise. As a master of organization, you manage all Extended Day supplies and resources, alerting headquarters as needs arise.
    • Handle the Curveballs. No two days are the same at Headfirst, and every member of our team will see unanticipated challenges come their way. You may be asked to help problem-solve, lend a hand with inter-departmental projects, and take on other responsibilities as requested.

    The Requirements:

    • You have:
      • Completed at least three (3) years at an accredited undergraduate institution.
      • Housing in the DC-metropolitan area and transportation to the location of your employment.
      • CPR & First Aid Certification or ability to complete CPR & First Aid Certification prior to June 1st, 2019.
    • You are:
      • Mission Driven. Here at Headfirst we’re inspired to make a difference in the lives of children and young adults everywhere and want you to be too.
      • A Positive Leader. You will be working directly with fellow on-site leadership and headquarters team members, as well as setting the standard of excellence for other seasonal team members.
      • Driven by the Details. You love organization and planning ahead and know that being effective in your role is tied to remembering the minor details.
      • A Coachable, Motivated Teammate. You know what it means to go above and beyond the call of duty.
